Was having a hard time getting into Bangai-O Spirits since it has a bad case of tutorial glut, but it's really damn fun once it clicks, saving and sending custom levels via sound you play into the mic is also genius

I've always loved that method of data transference because if you put the two DSs next to each other, it's like they're having a conversation

There is Mystic Ark from Enix in 1995. Anyone try this game? I am interested in SNES RPGs that never made it to the US.

This is one of my favorites! Highly recommend it, I played it with Aeon Genesis' translation and enjoyed it a lot.I've been meaning to replay it to see the World of Darkness chapter again.

I started playing Promise Mascot Agency recently and it is really filling the "weird kinda fever dream of a game" hole in my heart. I havent played much of it yet, but so far it is a+ food for one EXPLain. Crunch crunch.

I played like 15 minutes of Cosmology of Kyoto and had to save it for later because it seemed so cool. A couple weeks after that decision they apparently unearthed its sequel, Tripitaka, which I'm also very excited to get to eventually. https://archive.org/details/tripitaka_win_mac

There's so much cool stuff out there...

i’m curious about this game but there’s something about it about the mascot designs that feel kind of ironic in a similar way dating sim/vn parodies do… i may have to poke my head around it a bit because it DOES look fascinating though

I havent played a tonne of it yet but im finding it really enjoyable. It kind of feels like it shares a soul with deadly premonition, something quite silly and strange but using that humour/strange dreamlike quality to catch you by surprise with incredibly sincere feeling characters. I see what you mean about the mascot designs, which is interesting because you are working with, well, the outcasts of mascot society! The weirdos and oddballs that cant get work elsewhere because they dont fit conventional ideas of what a mascot should be.

Got an email about this one from Playism, a game about a boy who believes he's a tomb and is searching for a body to be buried inside him:

Kind of reminds me of the premise of Cookie's Bustle, where a girl believes she is a bear? Or like Chibi-Robo with the girl who believes she's a frog? I like games with that kind of idea in them.
